When I got fired, it felt like I was being punished even though I’d done good work.
Also, what the hell, it’s embarrassing.

I wanted to find out if anyone else felt that way and if maybe we’ve been thinking about getting fired all wrong.

Early praise for Canned

In this surprisingly varied and frankly kinda addictive podcast, Pam Mandel interviews folks who’ve been fired from a variety of jobs. Turns out, there’s a lot of reasons why people get canned — and most of them don’t have to do with doing substandard work. Heartening and helpful. Interviewees have some great suggestions for those who’ve just been canned. And Mandel moves the conversation along gently but professionally, keeping things interesting.

Have you ever been suddenly and (sometimes) unceremoniously canned from a job, like some sort of shitty unemployment blitzkreig?

Great stories, but also talk about how to come back after you’ve been canned.
